The Nicoya Peninsula is divided into the provinces of Guanacaste which occupies the larger part in the North, and the province of Puntarenas in the South. Here you will find, abundance of beaches all with their own unique character.
Tamarindo: Has friendly waves great for swimming or surfing. Tamarindo has a lot to offer,everything from surf lessons, ATV rides, horseback riding, fishing, sailing and amazing sunsets. Tamarindo has all the facilities, banks, grocery stores, shopping, plenty of resturants and a night life.
Playa Grande: Is situated just after the Tamarindo. Playa Grande, is where the famous Baula prehistoric dinosaur turtle comes and hatches her eggs.You can do the night turtle tour or volunteer at the National Park, or take a boat trip up the estuary. Playa Grande is also a very popular place for surfing
Mal Pais: Has a unique style, you will find the locals to lead a laid back life. Beautiful beaches to relax, spend the day at the spa,practice yoga, and mingle with the friendly locals. You can take it easy relaxing on a hammock or enjoy a horseback ride at sunset.
Playa Flamingo: Has a Marina for those interested in sport fishing, there are luxury hotels with exquisite views. Nearby are golf courses, discotheque and casinos. This beach has white soft sand, and beautiful pink sunsets. You can find delicious meals here in beautiful locations.
Playa Conchal: Has many small shells and the water is clear, a perfect place if you up for some snorkeling. You can enjoy a massage, rent, jet skis and end the day with a delicious meal with your feet in the sand watching the sun go down and hear the waves roll in.
South of the port city of Limon (towards the Panama border), a number of stunning beaches are the personification of the low-key Caribbean lifestyle. As you drive along the coast here you will found the world famous Costa Rican bannanas!
Puerto Viejo: The vibe here is laid-back, Caribbean-style, there is a definte rasta vibe and Bob Marley atmosphere.You can try the rice and beans cuisine, cooked with coconut milk. Also home to the most adorable three toes sloth.
Manzanillo, a protected area with tropical rainforest, palm swamps, coral reefs, and of course, idyllic Caribbean beaches.

Playa Ballena
