Santa Rosa National Park



The Santa Rosa can be accessed via the Interamericana, on the route to the Nicaraguan boarder. Dry season is the best time to visit as roads are more accessible. In 1955 the Nicaraguan military campaign tried to invade Guanacaste and was unsuccessful, at the entrance of Santa Rosa you can find a rustic antique amored car and a rebuilt Hacienda. Off the dirt road is Naranjo Beach, which is famous for his surfing, called Witches Rock.

Ostional National Wildlife Refuge​



During the nights just after the night that follows the full moon, hundreds of Olive Ridley Sea Turtles arrive on the beach to lay their eggs. This starts in July and last until December. Ostional National Park is made uo of Nosara Beach and Ostional beach . Here you will also find iguanas, birds, monkey and estuaries.

Cabo Blanco Strict Nature Reserve



This nature reserve is situated at the extreme tip of Nicoya Pennisula, of about 1.270 hectares of mixed forest and is Costa Ricas oldest protected area.  This reserve owes its name to the island that is close to its tip. Here are: white-tailed deer, squirrels, monkeys, rat-eating snakes, grass snakes, boa constrictors, coral snakes, turkey vultures, sloths, agoutis and coatis. 

Barra Honda National Park



Barra Honda offers some exiting challenges for the adventurous, it is located on the western part of Costa Rica. Its myriad caverns are carved out of the soft limestone of ancient coral reefs forced upward by tectonic faults. Various colonies of bats roost within the caves. Groups are required to phone in advance to get approval to enter the National Parks to descend into the caves.

Palo Verde National park



Palo verde National Park is a tourist destination enriched with nature and culture. Pajaros Island located  in the middle of the Tempisque River boast many exotic birds. Here you can enjoy the dry forest vegetation,with mangroves, macaws, herons, Jesus birds, raccoons, and howler monkeys.  

Guayabo, Negritos & Pájaros Islands Biological Reserves



In the Gulf of Nicoya is situated the National park which consits of four unpopulated islands, Negritos has two islands. The climate here is hot and sunny all year round, with some rainfall between May and November. The islands are home to marine birds, sea snipes, pelicans,  laughing gulls and parrots. There is also dophin, red snapper, and dolphin. You have to take a one of the cruises from Puntarenas to Tortuga Island. to observe the Guayabo, Negritos, Pajaros Islands Biological Reserve. 

Peñas Blancas National Park



The park's name, Penas Blancas, means "white cliffs' it gets its name from the white deposits of sedimentary rock which is chalk like and easy breakable.Its located at the southern slope of Tilaran Moutain range. The best time to visit is during the dry season which is from January to April. Many  country's mammal species are tapirs, sloths, monkeys, ocelot,  and many species of birds. 

Carara National Park



Carara National Park  is located near the Pacific coast, about 15 miles from Jaco Beach. This park protects the River Tarcoles and also one of the largest remaining population of wild Scarlet Macaw in the country. Perfect for nature lovers, its lush and green, 750 plant species that grow, many bird species, giant trees, and a lake with massive crocodiles. You also have the opportunity to relax at the near by beaches or eat at the delicous seafood resturants in the area. 

Manuel Antonio National Park



Manuel Antonio is situated south of Costa Rica. It is not only one of the most beautiful Costa Rica beaches, maybe because palm trees, clean beaches and unforgettable views. Manuel Antonio has a National Park, so here you can take a guided tour and  be sure to spot monkeys, iguanas birds and many other animals. Manuel Antonio is hilltops piled with jungle and streaming waterfalls.You have the option to dive, surf, kayak, zipline, or hike.

Caño Island National Park 



Caño Island is situated approximately 10-12 nautical miles from Osa Peninsula coast. It is a tropical paradise island, with trails up the mountain, that offers amazing views.  Caño island is an ideal spot for snorkeling, swimming or just relaxing. Two trails are available in Caño Island for light hiking. With fantastic underwater visibility Skin Diver Magazine rated Caño Island as among the best in the world for scuba diving and snorkeling. 

Corcovado National Park 



Corcovado National Park is located in Osa Peninsula the most South of Costa Rica. Its is the largest park in Costa Rica and it protects about the third of the Osa Peninsula. A pure gem, the National Geogrpahic has called it the most biologically intense place on Earth. All four Costa Rican monkey species can be seen here, jaguars, pumas, and the adorable three toed sloth.

La Amistad International Park



La Amistad International Park is the first attempt to manager to protect the area between two nations, Panama and Costa Rica.  It covers 401,000 ha of tropical forest and is the largest nature reserve in Central America. It is recognized in its strategic position in the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor and its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  There are 7,500 plants, 17 000 beetle, 600 species of birds, and big cats such as pumas, jaguars,  ocelots, and margays. 

Chirripo National Park



Chirripo National Park and its part of three provinces, San Jose, Limon and Cartago and was established in 1975. It is the 38th most prominent peak in the world. The park is one of the coldest places in Costa Rica. If you want to attempt the climb, be prepared and carry lots of water and you will need a sleeping bag. 

Rincon de la Vieja National Park



The name Rincon de la Vieja directly translated means 'Old Woman's corner' the legend is a story of a young girl whose lover was thrown into the volcano by her father, after which she became solitaire with healing powers. You can hike seeing steam vents & bubbling mud pots. Here you can find the Costa Rica’s national flower, the guaria morada. You can find a lot of rivers and waterfalls. You can jump off the rocks into the crystal clear water.
